COMPLIMENTARY FOR SIGNED IN RMEL MEMBERS!
Tri-State’s Generator Interconnection Program (History, Process, Challenges, & Future) Ryan Hubbard, Senior Manager - Transmission Business Strategy, Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association
Tri-State received a total of 55 generator interconnection requests totaling over 8,000 MW in 2018 and 2019. By 2020, due to a severely backlogged generator interconnection queue, Tri-State initiated Queue Reform to transition its Large Generator Interconnection Procedures (LGIP) from a serial, sequential process to an annual cluster study process. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved Tri-State’s Revised LGIP in January 2021. This presentation will discuss Tri- State’s transition from a serial, sequential process to annual cluster study process, the state of the current generator interconnection queue, lessons learned, challenges, and the future of Tri-State’s LGIP.
