Evergy & Burns & McDonnell recently commissioned the Hawthorn Solar 10MW facility. This presentation will provide an overview of the project development, solar array design, and the electrical tie in. The Hawthorn Solar 10MW facility is electrically connected to the low side of an existing gas turbine GSU transformer. While this connection provides an advantage by utilizing the existing HV transmission infrastructure, it also creates many unique design challenges which will be discussed.
