Attendees will explore how to apply industry standards within distribution construction manuals (Austin Energy's Design Criteria Manual), perform pole load and ruling span calculations, and evaluate the benefits of steel poles. Sessions also address service drop and lateral design, secondary voltage drop, and fuse coordination principles critical to reliability and safety. The day concludes with a review of primary metering design in both network and distribution areas.

Comparative utility insights will inform discussions on establishing a new vault standard for Austin Energy. Sessions will also cover voltage regulation, real-estate considerations—including rights-of-way, easements, and encroachments—and a review of Austin Energy’s Electric Service Planning Application (ESPA) process.
