Equity is a foundational element of the Biden Administration, integrated into nearly all planning and funding programs.  This new focus and the requirements associated with them can create a need for clarity for project applicants.  This session will discuss the background of the Biden Administration’s equity policy, including Justice40 and how that policy is informing implementation of funding programs at the Department of Energy.  Panelists will also discuss how Congress incorporated equity into the new energy programs created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act and how that is likely to influence how those programs are administered.  Panelists will also provide examples of a Community Benefits Plan, a new requirement at the Department of Energy, as well as tools available to help applicants comply.
